Macau’s gross domestic product (GDP) grew 15.7% year-on-year in real terms in the first half of 2024. At current prices, GDP reached 204.27 billion MOPs ($25.4 billion), according to data released on Friday by Macau’s Statistics and Statistics Office.
This is the first time that interim current price GDP has exceeded MOP 200 billion since the first half of 2019, the pre-pandemic trading period. Such GDP in the first six months of 2019 was MOP 202.14 billion.
Exports of services, including casino gaming services, accounted for 81.8% of price GDP as of the first half of this year, or just MOP 167.3 billion.
It was the first time since the opening quarter of 2019 that such exports, judged by current prices, exceeded that percentage contribution.
In practice, gaming services exports and other tourism services “increased 39.9% and 2.8% year-on-year, respectively, and exceeded corresponding levels by more than 20% for the same period in 2019,” the bureau said.
“Service exports continued to thrive in the first half of the year, driven by a rise in visitor numbers and tourism activities,” it added. 슬롯사이트 순위
In the first six months of 2024, total casino gaming revenue (GGR) in Macau was slightly above MOP 113.75 billion, up 41.9% year-over-year but below 23.9% in the same cumulative period in 2019. This follows government data released at the time of the June GGR results.
In the second quarter, real benchmark GDP rose 6.9% year-over-year, of which gaming services exports, which measure what visiting gamblers contribute to GDP, rose 22.6%.
