Organizers cancel 5th annual Ultimate Car Show due to ongoing Hard Rock casino strike

Coquitlam-based Hard Rock Casino has cancelled its annual Ultimate Kasho due to ongoing disputes with its employees. The famous vintage car show, which usually features more than 300 classic cars, had to be held this weekend, but organizers said the event would return in 2019.

The fifth edition of the annual Ultimate Car Show was scheduled to take place on Saturday, but things did not go as originally planned. 바카라

Rick Francois, who hosts the show, said the cancellation of the event was a difficult decision, especially considering how popular the free event was. But he reiterated the organizers’ intentions to plan bigger and better events for the summer of 2019. Mr Francois explained that the cancellation appeared to be the most logical option because the organizers of the event did not want to be in an uncomfortable situation considering the workers’ strike.

Unfortunately, the cancellation prevented them from raising funds for their charity partners.

Provisional agreement with GCGC rejected by members of the union
More than 400 casino workers currently owned and operated by the Great Canadian Game Corporation (GCGCGC) have been on strike since May 11, 2018, and the current gambling employees are represented by the BC State Civil Service Union (BCGEU), and the BC State Civil Service Union has been attempting the first collective agreement since January 2017.

Hard Rock casino workers are protesting that wages and benefits are too small, according to which the union said in late June that the two parties reached a tentative agreement, but the workers did not approve it. The strike is now continuing following the refusal of the provisional agreement.

Union members were given the opportunity to vote on the issue in early July, but decided not to agree to the proposed terms. Casinos are still open but understaffed.

As the BC Government and Service Employees’ Union stated, one of the main reasons for rejecting the tentative agreement was the casino operation change, which removed poker and crab tables from casino offerings. Casino employees who worked at the table took the highest-paid positions at the venue, and the union said they were quite popular among casino customers.

It is true that the disappearance of Crab and the poker table does not change the terms of the tentative agreement reached between casino owners and workers’ unions who had proposed a pay increase. However, casinos have decided to eliminate many of the highest-paid workers’ shifts still available. According to BCGEU President Stephanie Smith, the changes made by employers were simply devastating for workers.

After the tentative agreement was rejected, Great Canadian Gaming Corporation said it was disappointed by the union members’ decision and shared that further action and potential options would be considered to end the strike.
