Jadon Sancho is being touted as a possible replacement for Kylian Mbappe.
Transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano tweeted on Wednesday (June 22), “Manchester United winger Sancho is close to agreeing personal terms with PSG. PSG will negotiate with United. Sancho is on PSG’s radar and if they negotiate a transfer fee with United, it is likely to be between €50 million and €60 million.”
France’s ‘Getfootballnews’ reported on May 22, “With Mbappe on his way to Real Madrid, PSG have set their sights on Sancho. Along with Victor Osimhen, Sancho is their target and they are very close to agreeing personal terms. Director Luis Campos is enamored with Sancho’s performance. United have valued Sancho at €50 million.”
With Mbappe’s departure, PSG are looking to bolster their flanks. They wanted Hvitsa Kvarachelia as their first choice, but Napoli fiercely objected, so they took a detour with Sancho. Sancho’s top performances at Dortmund have attracted United’s attention. In his first season with Dortmund, he scored 12 goals and provided 14 assists in 34 Bundesliga games, and then went on to become one of the best players in the league, scoring 17 goals and providing 16 assists, including eight goals and 11 assists. His value has skyrocketed since his breakout season at Dortmund. United spent €85 million to bring Sancho to the club.
Sancho’s arrival at United was a disappointment. Playing for 토토사이트 순위 United since the 2021-22 season, Sancho made 26 Premier League appearances in 2022-23, scoring six goals and providing three assists, but overall, he was a huge disappointment. He was nowhere near the player he was at Dortmund. At his worst, Sancho made a public protest against Van Gaal for not playing him.
This made him virtually unplayable. Sancho went on loan to Dortmund in the winter transfer window. He played only the second half of the season for Dortmund, scoring two goals and providing three assists in 14 Bundesliga games, and was also in good form in the UEFA Champions League (UCL), helping the club reach the final and semifinals. He was linked with a move to Dortmund, but failed to agree a transfer fee and returned to United.
Despite finishing eighth in the Premier League, Van Gaal’s reign was marked by winning the English FA Cup. He signed a new contract to stay at United for the following season. At this point, Sancho’s departure seemed certain. Juventus were linked with a move. No one expected him to stay, but he was back at the training center.
It was reported that he and Van Gaal had a conversation. “Sancho returned to United’s first-team training this week,” The Athletic reported. He had a meeting with Van Gaal and they decided to put the past behind them and move forward,” according to The Athletic. Despite the improved relationship, United were open to a sale. PSG approached and surprised them.
