Residents of Nichols, N.Y., and other members of the public are given the opportunity to express their support or objections to Thio’s application for New York’s fourth casino license in Downs Casino & Racing. 파칭코사이트인포
A public hearing on the matter will be held today at Baldwin Gymnasium at SUNY Broom Community College in Binghamton, New York. It will start at 10 a.m. local time and attendees will be able to comment until 2 p.m. with members of the State Gaming Facility Location Committee in attendance.
Representatives from Tioga Downs will also attend the event, but they will not be allowed to speak to board members or other participants. On the other hand, the public will be given that opportunity because everyone who wants to express what they think about Tioga Down’s bid has no more than five minutes to do so.
In 2014, a similar public hearing was held in Ithaca. The New York Game Facilities Location Board said speakers from last year’s meeting, in particular, would not be guaranteed the opportunity to participate today. However, their comments may eventually be included in this year’s opinion.
Today’s public hearing is expected to be attended by hundreds of Nichols residents and the general public.
Tioga Downs is the only person who has applied for a Southern Tier casino license. In fact, the venue, owned by local real estate developer Jeff Gural, was not approved by the Gaming Facility Location Board last year. In December, gambling regulators backed three different proposals for a complete casino across the state and pointed out that a fourth license is unlikely to be awarded.
However, Nichols officials and Mr. Gural said they would eventually do their best to obtain a license in the southern tier area. After the recommendation of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, the New York State Gaming Board decided to resume bidding for other casinos. However, regulators have pointed out that a fourth license may not eventually be granted.
Once approved, Thioga Downs will turn into a full-fledged casino with table games and slot machines, offering a range of leisure and entertainment options as well as a 161-room hotel.
