Tigers pitcher Yang Hyeon-jong reaches innings milestones in losing cause

Kia Tigers pitcher Yang Hyeon-jong cleared two milestones Wednesday, though his momentous day came in a loss. Facing the Lotte Giants at Gwangju-Kia Champions Field in Gwangju, some 270 kilometers south of Seoul, Yang became the first pitcher in Korea Baseball Organization history to throw at least 170 innings in 10 consecutive seasons.

Yang reached 170 innings for 2024 by getting the second out in the top of the fourth inning .Yang ended up throwing five innings Wednesday and left 추천 the game with the Tigers trailing 5-1. Yang gave up all five of those runs in the third inning. The Tigers lost 5-2. Also in this game, Yang surpassed 2,500 innings for his career by getting the first out of the second inning.

With 2,503 2/3 innings, Yang is in distant second place on the all-time innings list, behind former Hanwha Eagles pitcher Song Jin-woo with 3,003 innings. The Tigers clinched the best record in the regular season on Sept. 17 and grabbed a direct berth in the Korean Series.
