Genius Sports Limited has entered into a new partnership with Snapchat Inc. to power the immersive augmented reality fan experience through its Snapchat lens. Genius Sports will help power the next wave of Snapchat lenses with NFL official league data, offering phone-based, shareable content to millions of fans. Sponsored lenses provide a powerful way for Verizon, the NFL’s official 5G network, to connect with fans through the power of AR. Verizon will be the first sponsor to operate a lens that incorporates Genius Sports technology. As part of this partnership, Genius Sports and Verizon’s 5G network will help power Verizon’s NFL Lens, including real-time data visualization and AR commerce platforms. The Lens will debut at Sofi Stadium on September 17, when the Los Angeles Rams host the San Francisco 49ers, and will include real-time match statistics, Merch Trion and 3D interactive maps of the stadium for Verizon 5G customers only.
In addition to exclusive use of the lens, Verizon and NFL offer Verizon customers a 40% discount on annual NFL+ Premium subscriptions. This immersive sports hub is the most recently activated product of Snap and Verizon’s 5G transformation partnership, providing Snapchatters with its first exclusive experience with Verizon’s 5G Ultra Wideband network.
