K League 2 Jeonnam defeats Gyeongnam 4-2…5 points off leaders Anyang

The Jeonnam Dragons of the K League Two (K2) have overcome Gyeongnam FC to close in on leader FC Anyang.

Jeonnam defeated Gyeongnam 4-2 on the road in the 20th round of the Hana Bank K League 2 2024 at the Changwon Football Center on Monday afternoon.

Unbeaten in nine matches (6 wins, 3 draws), Jeonnam remained in second place (32 points). They closed the gap on first-place Anyang (37 points) to five points.

After conceding the first goal to Gyeongnam Arabuli in the 10th minute, Jeonnam equalized in the 28th minute through Choi Won-cheol. Then, back-to-back goals by Lim Chan-ul in the 39th minute and Hanam in the 46th minute turned the game on its head.

Gyeongnam came back in the second half with an additional goal from Arabuli in the 26th minute, but Jeonnam finished the game with a wedge goal from Valdivia in the 33rd minute.

At the Asan Sunshin Sports Complex, Chungnam Asan defeated Seoul Eland 2-0.

Jose scored a brace in the 16th and 44th minutes to lead Chungnam Asan to victory.

Chungnam Asan, unbeaten in five matches, including three straight wins, moved up to third place with 30 points.

Eland, who have lost three straight, remain in sixth place (25 points).
