Cambodian billiards star Throng Piavi (Blue One Resort) broke away from a long slump and declared a comeback by winning.
Throng defeated Lim Jeong-sook (Crown Haitai) with a set score of 4-2 (9-11 3-11 11-8) in the LPBA finals of the 8th tour of the season ‘Welcome Savings Bank Wellbang PBA-LPBA Championship’ held at KINTEX PBA Stadium in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do on the afternoon of the 11th.

Throng, who conquered the second summit of the season 7 months after winning the Silk Road & Ansan Championship, the second tour of the season in July last year, increased the season’s prize money ranking from 6th to 2nd by adding 30 million won in prize money.
In addition, Throng achieved a total of 7 wins in 3 years since debuting on the LPBA stage in February 2021, surpassing Gayoung Kim (Hana Card, 6-time winner) and taking sole first place in this category.
The cumulative prize money was 252.92 million won, closely following the leader, Kim Ga-young (270.15 million won).
Lim Jeong-sook, who was trying to win a total of 6 games, suffered from a lack of courage even after winning two sets first.
Throng, who had walked a solid path after debuting on the professional stage, fell into an unexpected slump after having a minor conflict with Frédéric Caudron, the winner of the men’s division, immediately after winning the second tour in July of last year.
The controversy grew as a personal fan of Courdron, who saw this scene stemming from a misunderstanding, stormed into the press conference and threatened Caudron.
Coincidentally, Throng’s slump began immediately after that incident, causing quite a bit of backlash.
Perhaps because of this, at the victory press conference after the game, Slong
jokingly confessed his true feelings, saying, “I’m happy that I won after all the hard work.
Maybe because it was so hard, I don’t even cry anymore.”

While the women’s LPBA ended with Slong’s victory, the men’s PBA semifinals and finals will be held on the 12th.
