Penn National Gaming Closes Resort Casino Tunica

Penn National acquired the operation of Resorts Casino Tunica in March 2017 with 1st Jackpot Casino. Penn National, along with GLPI, leases basic properties related to both casinos from Gaming and Leisure Properties, Inc. under the terms of the company’s existing Master Lease. In addition, Penn National operates Hollywood Casino Tunica, located adjacent to the resort casino.

“In acquiring resort casinos as part of both real estate deals, we found ourselves acquiring aging barges that require significant capital improvements,” said Al Britton, vice president of Penn National Operations. “While we have done everything in our control over the past two years to keep the property profitable, the property’s business continues to shrink due to increased competition from recent gaming expansion in Arkansas. After exploring all the viable alternatives, we made the difficult decision to close the business. 바카라

“I would like to thank my nearly 200 team members for their hard work, loyalty, and dedication to this property over a long period of very difficult operating conditions. We will be looking for opportunities for these team members at our two other properties in Tunica, at resorts in other areas, or at one of the 39 other properties across the country. I would like to emphasize that despite this decision, Penn National remains committed to the Tunica market and is focused on continuing successful operations at the two remaining Tunica properties.”
