Vince Carter and 13 others to be inducted into Basketball Hall of Fame

The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2024 has been announced.

The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced today the Hall of Fame inductees selected by its six committees.

A total of thirteen individuals were named to the class.

The North American committee announced Chauncey Billups, Vince Carter, Michael Cooper, Walter Davis, Bo Ryan, 카지노사이트킴 and Charles Smith as inductees.

The most notable induction is Carter. He played from 1998 to 2020, becoming the only player in NBA history to play in four different decades.

He was named Rookie of the Year in the 1998-99 season and was an eight-time All-Star. He won the Slam Dunk Contest in 2000.

He was also a member of the U.S. Men’s Basketball Team at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, where he won a gold medal for his country, and holds the single-season scoring record for the New Jersey/Brooklyn Nets and Toronto Raptors.

Known as “Mr. Big Shot” during his career, Billups was a five-time All-Star and was named Finals MVP in 2004 when he led the Detroit Pistons to the championship.

Cooper played in the NBA from 1978 to 1990, earning All-Defensive Team honors eight times, including being named Defensive Player of the Year in 1987. After retiring, he was the head coach of the Los Angeles Sparks of the WshNBA, helping them win back-to-back championships.

Davis is a six-time All-Star and is the Phoenix Suns’ all-time leading scorer. She was a member of the 1976 Olympic gold medal team in Montreal and was named Rookie of the Year in 1978.

Ryan is a Hall of Famer with a 747-233 record in 32 seasons as a college head coach. Smith is the all-time winningest high school basketball coach in the state of Louisiana.

The Women’s Committee selected eight-time WNBA All-Star and four-time champion Seimone Augustus for induction.

The Men’s Veterans Committee selected Dick Barnett, who played 14 seasons in the NBA, and the Women’s Veterans Committee selected Harley Reddin, who led the Wayland Baptist University women’s basketball program for 18 seasons and compiled a 431-66 record.

Michelle Timms, a pioneer of women’s basketball in Australia, was recommended for induction by the International Committee.

The Contributors Committee also inducted Doug Collins, Michael Jordan’s coach and commentator; Herb Simon, former owner of the Indiana Pacers; and Jerry West, who helped build dynasties with the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors.

West, a two-time Hall of Fame inductee as a player and member of the 1960 Olympic team, was inducted as an executive.
