Three of the country’s major casino operators have seen their staff numbers drop over the past two years at the same time as the COVID-19 pandemic, the country’s Yonhap News Agency reported. All but one of the 17 brick and mortar licensed casinos in Korea are foreigner-only casinos.

Grand Korea Leisure, a foreign-only operator, has lost 10.4 percent of its workforce over the past two years, Yonhap News Agency said. Grand Korea belongs to the Korea Tourism Organization. The casino management organization operates two venues in Seoul, the capital of Korea, and one in Busan, all under the Seven Luck brand.
Another foreign-only operator, FaradaThe company has cut its workforce by 5.3 percent over the past two years, Yonhap news agency said. The company operates casinos in Seoul, Incheon, Busan, and Jeju, respectively.
Gangwon Land has been operating casino business hours by one hour every day since the 4th as operating restrictions have eased somewhat during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The move came after the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced on April 1 a slight easing of distancing rules nationwide, including restaurants, cafes and bars.
Since April 1, South Korea has allowed eligible travelers who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 twice or three times to enter the country without quarantine.
